LINLEY, the furniture brand owned by the Queen's nephew Viscount Linley, has created a Pen Collector's Cabinet to be sold exclusively in world renowned Harrods department store. The beautifully made cabinet is constructed in American walnut with inlays of Macassar ebony, cross-banded zebrano, grey sycamore stringing and sterling silver details.
Designed to hold one hundred pens in total, the pen collector's cabinet features a lid with toughened glass window that lifts to reveal the principal compartment for pens and a storage area for inks and a roll-blotter. Eight additional drawers are built in to the cabinet, designed to hold eight pens each. In LINLEY signature style, there is also a secret drawer within the base for storing that extra special pen. Each drawer is traditionally constructed with hand-cut dovetails and hand-turned ebony handles whilst the individual pen scoops are lined in faux suede with American walnut dividers. A unique locking device has been engineered specially for the cabinet and, once the lid and drawers are closed, the entire box can be locked securely. However, if the lid is locked whilst the drawers are still out, they can simply be pushed in to become fully locked and secure. On the inside of the box is a Sterling silver “LINLEY exclusively for Harrods” plaque with the LINLEY hallmark. The cabinet is a pen collector’s dream priced at £27,000 and would also make the perfect gift to a loved one.
